We are a core group of concerned Montezuma County residents who love the rural, agricultural aspect of the county and the values represented by the lifestyle that goes with it. Our concern is for the construction of a privately owned and operated utility-scale solar facility named Canyonland Solar, formerly known as Coyote Gulch Solar, on rural agricultural and historical land. This is not a โfarmโ being developed on land zoned agricultural. Itโs a utility facility.
We are not opposed to solar on homes, on industrial or commercial zoned land, or the new and innovative ways farmers have found to tap into the source. Itโs the use of farm land for solar facilities built on huge amounts of agricultural acreage to which we object, the known side effects of construction and operation, and their impacts on the farm land used.
We are proud to state that all photo images on our website show actual scenes from Goodman Point, unless noted otherwise. Thank you to our talented contributors. Solar images are courtesy of wildlife throughhopeseyes.
Our team consists of passionate local residents, farmers, environmentalists, and advocates committed to preserving our agricultural heritage and promoting real solutions.
