FAQ

What is your mission?

Our mission is to preserve the rural and agricultural character of Montezuma County by opposing the development of utility-scale solar facilities on farmland and promoting energy solutions that respect our agricultural heritage.

Why oppose solar facilities on farmland?

We believe that farms should be dedicated to growing food rather than serving as sites for large-scale solar power generation. Such projects can lead to ecological disruption, and loss of agricultural land, among so much more. Developers will expect to make money. That is a real and brief definition of a commercial business. Therefore the operation should take place on commercial/industrial zoned property. NOT farm land. NOT historical land. Place this “Utility Facility” on existing commercial or industrial-zoned land, brownfields, and on the built environment.

How do you engage?

We engage in community outreach, policy updates, and collaboration with local stakeholders to educate residents about the potential impacts of utility-scale solar projects.

Can I get involved?

Yes! We welcome local residents, farmers, environmentalists, and anyone passionate about preserving our rural values and agricultural landscape to join us in our mission and help protect our county.
